A New Neurovascular Stent Developed on Intermediate Water Research from Laboratory of Soft Material Chemistry
Dec 4, 2024
Laboratory of Soft Materials Chemistry(Tanaka Laboratory)’s research on intermediate water has led to the development and commercialization of an innovative neurovascular stent.
The stent surface-treated with synthetic polymers forms intermediate water upon contact with blood, exhibiting the following characteristics:
- Suppresses platelet adhesion and aggregation
- Demonstrates antithrombotic properties
- Promotes adhesion and endothelialization of vascular endothelial cells
- Contributes to treatment of cerebral infarction and cerebral aneurysm
